AMSS has developed a proven ecosystem of partner companies, each of which offers un-paralleled expertise and service in their specific discipline areas. Our team has extensive experience in the global submarine fiber optic cable industry and the development of terrestrial fiber optic cable systems. We offer expertise in all aspects of submarine cable and terrestrial infrastructure system design, permitting and construction.

Our Simple 4-Step Process

Step 1 Site Surveys

During the initial planning phase of a project, selecting the proper landing location for the proposed system is paramount. Our team assists clients in determining the best cable landing sites available based upon specific criteria. We offer the following services as part of the site survey process:

  • Landing site identification
  • Outside plant route review & selection
  • Cable station land acquisition
  • Preliminary review of associated hazards
  • Location background information
  • Presence of existing obstructions / cable systems
  • Initial investigation into local fisheries which may impact the cable routing

Step 2 Desktop Studies

Upon completion of the site survey, typically a comprehensive Desktop Study is preformed. The Desktop Study provides our client with a comprehensive report highlighting the following:

  • Potential permit requirements
  • Location of existing cables and/or other potential obstructions
  • Tide/current data
  • Geophysical assessment of the landing locations and cable route
  • Historical weather data
  • Aerial and Nautical mapping identifying proposed cable routes
  • Descriptions of the proposed cable routes which might be utilized during the permit process
  • Identification of local permit agencies
  • Initial cable specifications
  • Cost estimates for system construction

Step 3 Marine Surveys

Typically once the site survey and desktop study are completed, a detailed marine survey is preformed. As part of this service, our team mobilizes to site and completes a detailed side scan and multibeam survey of the seafloor. This mapping is critical to determine final cable route alignments and cable specifications.

Step 4 Marine Installations

Upon completion of the site survey, desktop study and marine survey, the AMSS team can provide clients with full turnkey installation services to include the following.

  • Cable procurement and delivery to site
  • Cable specifications
  • Development of route position lists
  • Coordination with permit authorities
  • Mobilization of cable installation equipment or vessels
  • Marine installation services
  • Cable protection
  • Diver jet burial or plow burial
  • Modular Cable Landing Station
  • DC Power Plant
  • Detailed final as-builts
  • Other services as requested/required

AMSS’s core area of expertise is the provision of turnkey modular cable landing stations. We specialize in the design, factory fabrication, transportation and onsite set-up of modular cable landing stations throughout the world.

Each cable landing station project is fabricated to unique client dimensions and requirements. Features include stainless steel and marine grade exterior hardware and finishes, power infrastructure, halo ground rings, wall-mounted HVAC units with lead-lag controls and coastal climate packages, integrated fire suppression and security alarm systems with the ability for remote monitoring capabilities, full generator back-up with combination ATS/MTS, and main power disconnects. We also offer complete DC Power Plant packages to include all equipment, start-up and commissioning.

Benefits of AMSS modular cable landing stations are:

  • Speed to market is critical in the construction of a new undersea cable system. AMSS's modular cable landing stations are completed faster than conventional construction and to a higher degree of quality.

  • Remote locations are the norm for establishing cable landing stations. Months can be spent on mobilizing materials and a work force, and costs can easily increase due to inclement weather, local labor issues, and lost productivity due to field conditions. The AMSS solution is a factory manufactured cable landing station and a small set crew of specially trained AMSS employees to complete the onsite building assembly quickly, efficiently, and with reduced risk.

  • Bandwidth scalability is a requirement in today's data centric environment. The AMSS model allows for fast seamless upgrades to equipment, and future floor space requirements can be satisfied with additional modules.
